New Horizon Academy was founded in 1998 as a private Seventh Day Adventist school and finally turned into a government-aided school as a response to the community need for public school on the island. The school started with 50 students and has shown tremendous growth with a present total enrollment of 345 students split into 8 classrooms.

The school accepts students from 5 to 14 years old from Infant I to Standard VI grades with an average of 35 students per class, which can in some classes go up to 45 students. There are presently 12 teachers but the school is experiencing turnover issues with teachers staying only for the tourism season and then being transferred again on the mainland. There is chapel every Friday as well as Bible classes.
